After-Hours Lead Capture for Loan Officers: Consent-First, on Your Own Line

· Ryan Berner, Founder, Alpine Autopilot

A buyer gets serious at night. They have toured a house, the listing agent wants a pre-approval letter, and they are on the couch at nine o’clock looking for a loan officer who will actually answer. The one who picks up, or texts back with a real next step, usually gets the file.

If you run a mortgage office or originate loans in Colorado Springs, the Tri-Cities, Phoenix, Reno, or nationally, this note is about that after-hours window: how to capture the lead on your own line, and why how consent is collected matters as much as whether the phone gets answered. Alpine Autopilot builds Anna, an AI operations assistant for lenders and real estate teams. Rates live only on pricing.

“We’re already covered with our tech stack”

That is the first thing most loan officers say, and it is fair. Mortgage shops usually have a CRM, a loan origination system, a dialer, and a chat widget on the website. The stack is not the problem.

The problem is that almost every piece of it assumes someone is at a desk. The dialer needs a person to dial. The CRM needs a person to log the call. The chat widget collects a name and promises that someone will be in touch. After hours and on weekends, the stack waits, and the borrower does not.

Anna does not replace any of it. She sits inside the line, calendar, and CRM you already run and covers the hours nobody is there. Your loan origination system stays the system of record for the file.

Start the morning with a plan

Anna is an operations assistant first. Before the office opens, she sends a morning brief: who called or texted overnight, which inquiries look ready for a pre-approval conversation, which borrowers are waiting on a document or a callback, and which files in the pipeline have gone quiet.

Then she proposes a plan for the day: who to call first, which follow-ups to send, and which real estate partners need an update. Anna recommends; the loan officer decides.

Keep every file moving

  • Books callbacks and consultations against the live calendar you connected.
  • Follows up on open inquiries on the cadence you approve, only where consent is on file.
  • Updates the CRM after each conversation so the record matches what happened.
  • Answers the questions you approve, and hands off to a licensed loan officer for rate, program, and application questions.

In the install Alpine builds, Anna does not quote rates or take applications. She books the caller a consult with your licensed loan officer instead.

This is where lender bots differ the most, and where the risk sits.

One class of tools collects consent in the middle of a call. The bot is talking to a caller and asks them to agree to automated texts or calls going forward, then treats that verbal yes as permission for outbound. It is fast, and it can be hard to show later exactly what the borrower agreed to, when, and on whose behalf.

Alpine works the other way. Consent is set up before any outbound runs, on the lender’s own forms and the lender’s own number, documented and on file. Messaging is registered under the lender’s EIN, not a shared vendor pool. Opt-out is on every text path. Inbound conversations, where the borrower reached out first, are answered on the line they dialed. Alpine does not do cold AI calling, and outbound runs only with documented prior express written consent. More on what that means: documented consent and compliance. Not legal advice, check with your own counsel.

For real estate team leads

If you lead a real estate team, the same after-hours gap hits your buyers. A buyer who cannot get a pre-approval answer at night may stall, or find a lender on their own. Team leads who run Anna on their own line get the same morning brief and pipeline watch for their side of the deal; detail is on real estate.

And she never misses a call or text

This comes last because it is table stakes. When the borrower calls your line after hours, Anna answers. If the call does not connect, she texts from the same number, because voice and text are one system. Speed matters in this business, and the speed-to-lead page covers why.

Done for you

Alpine builds and operates the install: intake, build, registration under your EIN, voice tuning, and a burn-in period before the public line, the shape of how it works. You own the number and the borrower records. Alpine stays on as operator.

Next step

Lender detail lives on mortgage. What Alpine charges is published only at pricing. If you originate loans or run a mortgage office and want the after-hours window covered on your own line, consent-first, book a call. Demo line 406-571-8620 works when a quick listen is enough.

This post describes how Alpine builds and operates an install. It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for your own counsel.

FAQ

From this piece

Straight answers. No theater.

What is after-hours lead capture for a mortgage office?

Making sure the borrower who calls or texts at night or on a weekend gets a real answer, a clear next step, and a booked callback with a licensed loan officer, instead of a voicemail greeting. Anna does that on the lender’s own number and logs it in the CRM.

How is consent-first different from collecting consent mid-call?

Some lender bots ask a caller to agree to automated follow-up partway through a conversation, then treat that as permission. Alpine sets consent up front, on the lender’s own forms and line, documented and on file before any outbound runs, with opt-out on every text path. Not legal advice, check with your own counsel.

We already have a CRM, a dialer, and a website chat. Why add Anna?

Most mortgage stacks are built for the hours someone is at a desk. Anna sits inside the line, calendar, and CRM you already run and covers the gap after hours and on weekends. She does not replace your loan origination system or your CRM.

Does Anna quote rates or take loan applications?

No. In the install Alpine builds, rate, program, and application questions stay with the licensed loan officer. Anna captures the lead, answers the questions you approve, and books the callback.

Where are Alpine’s rates?

Only on alpineautopilot.com/pricing.
